Titanium Bolt Action Pen: What to Check Before You Buy
Share
A titanium bolt action pen extends and retracts its tip with a sliding bolt instead of a click or twist. It is a small mechanism, so it is worth checking before you buy.
How the bolt action works
Sliding the bolt drives the refill forward until it locks. A good one locks firmly and does not rattle when the pen is carried. Test for play in the bolt, not just smoothness.
Why titanium
Grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) is a titanium alloy with aluminum and vanadium. It resists corrosion and has about 45% lower density than stainless steel. In a pen, that means a slim, light body that resists corrosion in a pocket.
What to check before buying
- Refill type: Confirm which refill fits and whether replacements are easy to find.
- Finish quality: Look for clean threads and an even finish in the photos.
- Weight and length: Check both before you buy. Our 121 mm grade 5 titanium pen weighs 13 g.
- Clip or no clip: Decide whether it lives in a pocket, a notebook loop or a desk.
